Call for political offensives against fundamentalist forces
JAMALPUR, Jan 16: State Minister for Information Prof Abu Sayeed today urged the countrymen to launch political offensives against fundamentalist forces in the country, reports BSS.
"The guiding philosophy of our country and the constitution is the spirit of 1971 which was earned by the supreme sacrifices of 30 lakh martyrs during the long nine months of the Liberation War," the state minister said while addressing a workers' conference of Jamalpur district Awami League at the municipal auditorium.
President of Jamalpur district Awami League Prof Shahidullah chaired the conference. Former home minister Abdul Mannan, Chairman of the parliamentary standing committee on Information Ministry Abul Kalam Azad MP, Mirza Azam MP, former president of district Awami League Advocate Matiur Rahman Talukdar and local leaders of Bangabandhu Parishad, Awami Jubo League, Awami Secchashebok League and Bangladesh Chhatra League addressed the conference.
Prof Sayeed said the Liberation War was not only a military war, it was also a war for establishing a noble ideology. He said the freedom fighters had fought for a secular state, free from poverty, illiteracy and hunger.
