BSF picks up youth, injures teenage boy

Indian Border Security Force (BSF) picked up a Bangladeshi cattle trader from Munshipur border point in Damurhuda upazila of Chuadanga district early yesterday, reports a correspondent.
The victim is Miajan, 35, son of Fakir Miaji of Munshipur village, said an official of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).
Locals said a BSF team from Modhupur camp caught Miajan when he along with some Bangladeshi cattle traders went to Indian territory to bring their cattle. However, the rest managed to flee.
Major Mehedi Hasan, deputy commanding officer of BGB-6 battalion, said we have sent a protest letter to BSF to return Miajan.
In Kurigram, a Bangladeshi teenage boy was shot and injured by BSF men on Balarhaat border in Phulbari upazila on Tuesday night.
The victim is Asadul, 17, son of Abdul Zalil of Khalisha Kotal frontier in Naodanga union, reports our correspondent.
Bazlur Rashuid, officer in-charge of Phulbari police station, said a patrol team of BSF men opened fire on a group of cattle traders, including Asadul, at 8:30pm when they went to the border area to bring their cattle.
Asadul sustained bullet injuries in his right ear and right eye during the firing, said the OC.
Asadul was taken to Phulbari Hospital and then shifted to Rangpur Medical College and Hospital as his condition deteriorated, he said.
