BSF picks up 2 Bangladeshis
Members of Indian Border Security Force (BSF) picked up two Bangladeshi nationals from Lalmonirhat and Jhenidah Wednesday morning.
The Indian border guards detained Bijoy Roy, 28, in Lalmonrhat while Faisal, 19, in Jhenidah.
In Lalmonirhat, a patrol team of BSF picked up fisherman Bijoy when he was fishing in the Dharla river along Durgapur border in Aditmari upazila at about 7:30am, said Lt Col Mahbubur Rahman, commanding officer (CO) of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) battalion-15.
BGB sent a letter asking BSF to return the Bangladeshi national but the Indian border guards were yet to respond, the BGB official told The Daily Star around 10:30am.
UNB adds, a special patrol team of BSF picked up Faisal from Moheshpur frontier in Jhenidah around 6:30am as he mistakenly walked into Indian territory to bring back his cattle, said Jamsher Ali, company commander of BGB Kusumpur camp.
Later, the troops handed over Faisal, son of Khokon Mondol of the Loraighat village, to BSF Nonagang camp.
The BGB sent proposals to the respective BSF officials for flag meetings to discuss the abductions.
