BSF picks up 2 schoolboys
The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) picked up two Bangladeshi schoolboys along Grokmondal border point at Phulbari upazila of Kurigram on Friday night.
They are Mizanur Rahman, 14, son of Islam Haque, and Aminul Islam, 16, son of Abul Hossain, of Uchatari village of the upazila. Mizanur is a class-seven student while Aminul a class-eight student of local West Phulmati High School.
According to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) sources, the BSF men of Kharida-Harida BOP camp in Cooch Behar district picked up the schoolboys while they were going to their relatives' house in Kharida-Harida village around 8:00pm.
Their relatives' houses are along the India-Bangladesh border, the sources added.
Md Shahiduzzaman, company commander of Shimulbari BGB, said a letter had been sent to BSF yesterday morning, seeking the release of the boys.
Lt Col Ziaul Haque Khaled, commanding officer of 45 BGB Battalion in Kurigram, said, “A company commander-level flag meeting was held to discuss freeing the boys in the morning."
At the meeting, the BSF members said they [BSF] would inform them [BGB] of the matter after talking to their [BSF] battalion commander, he said.
"But we [BGB] have not received any further information in this regard," Ziaul added.
