Bomb blast leaves two injured at Moulvibazar
A powerful bomb exploded in an under-construction building in the town at midnight on Saturday, leaving its two guards seriously wounded.
"Hundreds of people woke up from sleep in panic following the blast with a big bang in the building adjacent to the main post office on the central road," said a firsthand report.
The sound of the blast was heard even some three kilometres from the explosion site.
Sadar thana police rushed to the scene and rescued the guards -- Shaheed Mia, 30, of Baliarbhag and Ilias Mollah, 25, of Habiganj.
They were hospitalised under police guard. The detainees would be interrogated on their recovery.
Police were yet to confirm whether it was a bomb or strong cocktail. "Everything will be clear after interrogating the guards," police said.
