Bochaganj, Jhenidah were freed on this day in 1971

Bochaganj, a westward upazila of Dinajpur district, was freed from the Pakistani occupation army on this day in 1971.
On December 6 in 1971, the valiant freedom fighters hoisted the flag of independent Bangladesh in the upazila town after a nine-month fierce fighting with the Pakistani troops, reports our correspondent.
The then general secretary of Bochaganj AL and former minister late Abdur Rouf Chowdhury hoisted the national flag in the upazila Thana complex in presence of hundreds of freedom fighters.
On December 5, 1971, the freedom fighters along with Indian force locked in a fierce fighting with Pakistani army forcing them to retreat from the upazila and allowed the freedom fighters to enter the town in the morning.
As the news spread, people from the adjacent villages came to the upazila town and rejoiced freedom by chanting slogans 'Joy Bangla' with the freedom fighters.
Meanwhile, Jhenidah district was freed from the Pakistani occupation forces today during the Liberation War in 1971, reports our correspondent.
On this day in 1971, the freedom fighters declared the district (then sub division) free from the clutch of the Pakistani army by hoisting the flag of independent Bangladesh in the area.
