BNP leader Taimur among 17 getting bail
A Narayanganj court yesterday granted bail for one month to BNP leader Taimur Alam Khandoker and 16 others in two cases filed over the clash between activists of Hefajat-e Islam and law enforcers on May 6.
Additional District and Session's Judges Court Judge Ali Akber passed the order after a bail petition filed by the people before it.
Yesterday, they appeared before the court following an order of the High Court.
Earlier on May 19, the HC granted them one month interim bail.
Police filed the cases with Shiddirganj and Sonargoan Police Stations after the clash that left at least 19 people, including two border guard members and two policemen, dead in Shiddirganj and Kanchpur areas of the district.
Contacted, Taimur Alam, president of Narayanganj district unit of BNP, said BNP leaders and activists were implicated in the cases, although they were not involved in the incident.
