BNP for new trend of govt: Khaleda

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia last night told different university teachers in a views exchange meeting that her party would introduce a “new trend of government” to run the country, if voted to power.
She also sought the teachers' assistance to intensify the opposition's movement for holding the next parliamentary polls under a non-party caretaker administration.
With the university teachers, the opposition leader briefly shared her recent telephone conversation with UN Secretary General Ban-ki moon.
“I made Ban-ki Moon understand that a free and fair election is not possible in Bangladesh without a non-party caretaker government,” a Dhaka University professor who was present in the meeting told The Daily Star quoting Khaleda.
More than 150 pro-BNP teachers under the banner of the University Teachers' Association of Bangladesh (Utab) attended the meeting at the BNP chairperson's Gulshan office in the capital.
Former DU pro-vice chancellor and Utab chairman AFM Yusuf Haider led the delegation.
Journalists were not allowed to cover the meeting that lasted for over two and a half hours from 9:30pm.
“Once in power, we will run the country with a new trend of government where talents and qualifications would be the only measurement to get jobs in all sectors,” a top Utab leader, who is also a DU professor, quoted the BNP chief as saying.
“She also said that according to the new trend of government, she will not tolerate any corruption at any tier of the administration,” he added.
