BNP celebrates Khaleda's birthday

BNP and its different front organisations celebrated 68th birth anniversary of opposition leader Khaleda Zia on Thursday.

Flanked by party leaders and activists, BNP senior leaders including Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Mirza Abbas and Sadeque Hossain Khoka cut a 65-pound cake at the party’s central office at Nayapaltan around 11:00am to celebrate the birthday.

Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal, Sramik Dal, Tanti Dal and other front organisations of the main opposition also cut cakes in separate programmes at the same venue.

In the wee hour of Thursday, close relatives of the BNP chief celebrated the birth anniversary in a family atmosphere through cutting a cake at Khaleda's Gulshan residence, party sources said.

The BNP chief is likely to cut a cake at her Gulshan office around 8:30pm and exchange greetings with her party men.

According to her affidavit filed to the election commission, Khaleda was born on August 15, 1945.
