BMET sets up help desks
Bureau of Manpower Employment and Training (BMET) on Monday introduced seven help desks to accelerate clearance process of migrant workers.
Begum Shamsun Nahar, director general of the Bureau, disclosed it when she was talking to reports at BMET office in the capital.
BMET has opened the desks, a day after Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies (Baira) declared to suspend its manpower export activities for an indefinite period.
Baira suspended the activities protesting the government’s role in recruitment in foreign job markets.
While visiting the BMET on Monday, Expatriate Welfare Secretary Dr Jafar Ahmed Khan said Baira’s decision to suspend operations will not hamper the activities of the ministry.
Replying to a query, the secretary said the government will welcome any proposal from Baira for dialogue to settle the issue.
