BGB, BSF agree to strengthen joint patrol on Sylhet-Assam border
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Indian Border Security Force (BSF) have agreed to strengthen joint patrol and enhance coordination between them to reduce trans-border crimes along the Sylhet-Assam border.
Officials of the BGB and BSF reached the agreement at a deputy director general-level meeting at the Supreme Community Centre near Sheola border in Beanibazar upazila of Sylhet yesterday.
Col Khairuzzaman, deputy director general of BGB in Sylhet, led a seven-member team; and Umesh Chandra Hazarika, deputy inspector general of BSF in Silchar, led an eight-member team.
Various trans-border issues, including stopping of killing of innocent Bangladeshis along the border, were discussed.
