BDR seizes Indian sarees in Satkhira
SATKHIRA, Jan 6: The members of Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) seized huge number of smuggled Indian sarees, worth over Taka twenty lakh, from two micro-buses near the BDR headquarters and Binerpota Bridge area on Saturday and arrested one person in this connection, reports BSS.
The BDR members of 12 battalion at Satkhira, seized two Khulna-bound microbuses, one near the BDR headquarters area and another from Binerpota Bridge area and recovered huge number of Indian sarees from the microbuses.
According to BDR sources, the sarees were smuggled into Bangladesh from India through several border areas and were being sent to Khulna.
the BDR seized the two microbuses and arrested one Abul Kashem of village Nilganj of Jessore district. The drivers, however, managed to escape.
Abul Kashem was handed over to sadar thana police.
The seized sarees were deposited to the Satkhira Customs authorities.
A case has been filed with sadar thana in this connection.
