BCL men assault two journos at RU

A group of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) men of Rajshahi University unit severely beat up two university correspondents yesterday.
Azibul Haque Partho of the daily Inqilab and Al-Amin Akash of the daily Amader Orthonity were admitted to the university medical centre with injuries in the neck and back.
They were beaten with sticks and scrap wood at Tukitaki Chattar, said witnesses, adding that Shudipto Salam, joint secretary of RU BCL, and Suranjit Prasad Bitto, relief and disaster management affairs secretary of the unit, led the attack.
Partho claimed that a month ago, Salam was arrested with fire arms and a hooker, and he attacked him for reporting the incident. Salam said they beat up Partho and Akash for harassing Bitto's girlfriend.
Proctor Prof Tarikul Hasan asked for written complaints from the victims.
