Banks to remain open Saturday

Bangladesh Bank has directed all scheduled banks to keep their branches open on Saturday, a public holiday, to facilitate submission of nomination papers for the 10th parliamentary election.
The Department of Offsite Supervision today issued a circular in this regard.
“We have already informed the decision to different scheduled banks,” said AFM Asaduzzaman, general manager of governor secretariat.
When asked Helal Ahmed Chowdhury, managing director of Pubali Bank, confirmed The Daily Star about the central bank order.
According to schedule, the last date of submitting nomination papers is December 2 while the election will be held on January 5, 2014.
