Bangladesh economy is growing depending on the talent and creativity of its entrepreneurs, said Ralph Reusch, chargé d' affaires of the German embassy in Bangladesh.
He spoke at the celebration of 43rd Independence Day of Bangladesh and induction of 400 members of Bangladesh German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BGCCI) in the capital on Friday.
Reusch cited the UNDP's recently published Human Development Report 2013, which identified Bangladesh as one of the highlighted 18 countries for rapid progress in human development.
Bangladesh has achieved continuous growth that has put it alongside the world's top emerging markets, BGCCI President Sakhawat Abu Khair said.
Trade between Bangladesh and Germany has increased by 80 percent over the past three years, he said.
The chamber has become the biggest bilateral chamber in Bangladesh by achieving a milestone of 400 members, Khair said.
Germany is Bangladesh's first trading partner within the European Union and the second largest market for Bangladeshi exports worldwide, he said.
Later, Reusch, Khair and Daniel Seidl, executive director of the chamber, introduced Robert Bosch (Bangladesh) Ltd as the 400th member of the trade body.
Robert Bosch (Bangladesh) Ltd is a subsidiary of the Bosch Group, a leading provider of products and services in the areas of automotive, industrial and building technologies and consumer goods.
