Bangladeshis 2nd-highest in getting certificates
Bangladeshi medical students stood second in attaining certificates among participants from nine countries at a three-day annual international conference held in New Delhi earlier this month.
They achieved 10 certificates, second after India, in different events at “MEDSICON 2013 - The 3rd Annual Medical Students' International Conference”, organised by Vardhman Mahavir Medical College and Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi, says a press release.
The events included workshops on basic surgical, clinical and life support training skills; presentation of research works, debate, quiz and photography competitions, scientific poster display, speech presentation and cultural functions.
Morshed Ahmed of Dhaka Medical College and Tonmoy Shekhor Biswas of Faridpur Medical College gained appreciation in the events.
Research papers by Morshed and Tonmoy were selected for publication in New India Journal of Surgery in recognition of their outstanding performance in poster presentation.
Eminent surgeon Prof Chintamoni, chairman of the conference, declared Tonmoy “bright researcher of future”.
Tonmoy spoke as an ambassador from Bangladesh at the end of the conference while Morshed enthralled the audience with a Bangla song at the cultural programme.
Medical students from India, Bangladesh, England, Indonesia, Russia, the West Indies, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Nepal took part in the conference.
