Transport strike: Meeting for re-fixing bus fare begins at BRTA
The meeting of a government committee, led by the chairman of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA), for re-fixing bus fare started at BRTA headquarters in Dhaka this morning.
Members of the committee, representatives from energy division, BPC, transport leaders and Road Transport and Bridges Ministry are attending the meeting -- starting at 11:30am.
BRTA Chairman Nur Mohammad Mazumder is presiding over the closed-door meeting; journalists were asked to leave the meeting room after taking photos.
Transport associations, mostly those of the owners, enforced the indefinite strike of public transport, trucks and lorries from Friday morning.
Bus owners demanded increasing fares to cope with the fuel price hike while the owners of trucks and lorries demanded cancellation of fuel price hike.
