Prime mover owners-workers union withdraw transport strike
Chittagong Prime Mover, Trailer Workers' Union withdrew their strike at the port this afternoon.
The strike was called off around 4:30pm after the union leaders held a meeting with State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury in the port city, reports our staff correspondent.
It was withdrawn after the state minister's assurance of meeting their demands, said Md Main Uddin, the union's president.
Loading and unloading of goods halted due to the strike at the port will resume now, he added.
The operation of other goods transport is also resuming gradually following withdrawal of the strike, said Md Omar Faruk, Chittagong port authority secretary.
