Obaidul Quader failed to bring order on roads: JP lawmaker
Jatiya Party MP and Secretary General of the main opposition Mujibul Haque Chunnu today in parliament said that Road Transport Minister Obaidul Quader has failed to bring order on roads and in the transport sector.
Coming down heavily for one after another death in road accidents, Chunnu said the minister has done a lot of development including the Padma Bridge.
"But he has totally failed in road transport management," he said speaking on a point of order.
Also, he sharply criticised the sorry state of Dhaka city's transport management system.
In his speech, he pointed to several road accidents, including death of a North South University in the city. "Yes, a lot of development works has been done under the present government. But we have not seen a transport policy and proper management in transportation in the Dhaka city," he said.
"Most of the buses plying on the city roads are old and dilapidated, they don't have any license, don't bother to abide by the law and remained parked on the street abruptly," he added.
He also criticised the government for price hike of daily commodities.
