On December 28, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the country's first metro rail and the service was opened partially to the public the following day.
At the initial state, the metro trains were being operated between Uttara and Agargaon without any stoppage.
On January 25, the authorities made the third station -- Pallabi station -- functional.
Siddique said they will open all nine stations within March this year and will take three months to start full-fledged operation.
He added that the trains will start 15 minutes after the Fajr prayers and will continue till midnight.
However, the frequency of trains will be changed depending on the number of passengers, he said, adding that it will be higher in the mornings for office hours and will lessen after 10:00pm.
He also said the PM will open the Agargaon-Motijheel section of the Mass Rapid Transit Line-6 (MRT-6) in December this year and the authorities are hopeful to open the Mothijheel-Kamalapur section by June 2025.
Siddique added that they are currently selling multiple-use MRT passes for commutes from 3:00pm to 9:00pm on all three functional stations.
From February 18, the timing will be from 8:30am to 2:30pm.
He said that till Wednesday, 4.50 lakh passengers have taken the metro rail service and the authorities have so far earned Tk 3.10 crore from ticket sales.
The 21.26km metro rail line, formally known as MRT-6, is being implemented with Tk 33,472 crore from Uttara to Kamalapur with a Japanese soft loan.
The overall progress of the project was 93.21 percent till January this year, he added.
