Half bus fare: Students stage demo at Shahbagh demanding gazette announcement

Some students of different educational institutions today staged a demonstration in the capital's Shahbagh demanding announcement of issuing a gazette notification for half bus fare across the country without any conditions.

The students brought out a coffin procession at Shahbagh around noon today, reports our Dhaka University correspondent.

When they started the demonstration in the area, police put a bar on them, later they moved towards Raju Memorial Sculpture on the DU campus.

There, they announced that they will arrange a candle-lighting programme at the Central Shaheed Minar over the matter tomorrow evening.

Inzamul Haque, a demonstrator, said students in several districts also held demonstrations demanding half bus fares.

Shahbagh Police Station Officer-in-Charge Moudut Hawlader told The Daily Star "We requested the students not to block Shahbagh intersection. On our request, they moved to the campus."
