Train operations resume 6 hours after derailment in Joypurhat
Rail communications of Dhaka with the country's northern part were restored six hours after derailment of Dhaka-bound Ekota Express at Tilakpur railway station in Joypurhat's Akkelpur upazila around 5am today (July 16, 2022).
Rezaul Karim Dalim, station master of Santahar Junction, confirmed the development to our Dinajpur correspondent. He said that a rescue train from Ishwardi reached the spot and recovered the derailed bogie around 11am.
Ekota Express from Joypurhat veered off the tracks at Tilakpur railway station early today, halting rail communication between the capital and northern Bangladesh.
Dhaka-bound Nilsagar Express, Panchagarh-bound Drutojan Express and Chilahati-bound Simanto Express have been stranded at Akkelpur and Santahar railway stations since the derailment.
