Crack in Ctg’s MA Mannan flyover; vehicular movement stopped
After a crack in a ramp of MA Mannan Flyover in the port city was found around 10:00pm last night, police stopped vehicular movement on and under the flyover.
The crack was noticed on a ramp leading from Bahaddarhat to Kalurghat road, according to Mainur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Chandgaon Police Station, who added that police immediately halted traffic on and under the flyover and informed the matter to Chattogram Development Authority (CDA) and Chattogram City Corporation (CCC).
He said that officials of the CDA and CCC would visit the spot today.
Officials from the CDA and CCC could not be reached for any comment.
The construction of a one-kilometer flyover connecting Shulakbahar and Bahaddarhat began in 2010. Thirteen people were killed when the guarder of the under-construction flyover collapsed in Chandgaon in November 2012. The flyover was being constructed by CDA.
The construction work was then handed over to the Bangladesh Army. On October 12, 2013, the Prime Minister officially inaugurated the flyover.
