Chaos over railway tickets in Ctg as server down
A huge number of people of Chattogram are suffering as Bangladesh Railway's website went down following resumption of online ticket selling from Saturday (March 26, 2022).
Failing to buy tickets online, many of them rushed to the Chattogram Railway Station which saw long queues of ticket-seekers, reports our local staff correspondent.
Visiting Chattogram Railway Station today, The Daily Star found that hundreds of people are suffering immensely to get train tickets.
A large number of people complained that they could not buy tickets using the BR website. Passengers said that they are facing difficulties in getting OTPs, and the website is not functioning over server issues.
Zafor Ahmed, a passenger who came to Chattogram Railway station to buy a ticket, told The Daily Star that he tried a lot for a ticket online but could not enter the BR website.
Ratan Kumar Chowdhury, manager of Chattogram Railway Station, said that due to the new system, passengers are having problems buying tickets online.
On March 14, Rail Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said that the old rail ticketing system run by CNS Limited would be replaced and "Shohoz" would be put in charge of the new system.
According to BR data, the computer ticketing system issues 90,000 tickets a day and nearly 2.7 million tickets a month. Nearly 50 per cent or about 1.3 million is sold online or through the mobile app.
