Will opt for suitable rally venue other than Suhrawady Udyan: Fakhrul
Softening its stance on holding their rally at Nayapaltan, BNP today said they would consider other venues if the government offers them a suitable alternative for the rally on December 10.
"Our Dhaka rally will be the most successful and peaceful one. So, we urge the government not to create any instability by trying to divert our programme towards a different direction," said BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
Fakhrul in reply to a question said the party's standing committee member Mirza Abbas yesterday called upon the government to come up with an alternative proposal for holding the rally instead of Nayapaltan or Suhrawardy Udyan.
"If we get any suitable alternative venue then we will consider it, but it should not be Suhrawady Udyan or on the banks of Turag river," he added.
He once again urged the government to stop arresting BNP leaders and activists and release those who were arrested.
