‘Will let Khaleda go abroad if that’s what people want’
Law Minister Anisul Huq today said that BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will be allowed to go abroad for treatment if people of the country want that.
He made the remark while addressing a public meeting organised by upazila unit of Awami League at Akhaura Upazila Parishad premises in Brahmanbaria.
The law minister said, "Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's government released Khaleda Zia on humanitarian grounds, on two conditions. She has moved to her home and is living in a luxurious, comfortable house," he said, adding that from the day she went to hospital for Covid-19 treatment, she started demanding to be allowed to go abroad.
"If we can provide medical treatment for people in Bangladesh, then why go abroad?" the minister asked.
"You tell me whether Begum Zia needs to go abroad or not? If you say so, we will let her go abroad," the minister told the crowd.
