Traffic on Dhaka-Ctg highway disrupted by AL factional clash

Vehicular movement on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway was disrupted for about two hours as a clash broke out between two groups of Awami League activists in Cumilla's Chauddagram upazila this morning.

Witnesses and police said the clash ensued between followers of local lawmaker Mujibul Haque and former mayor of Chauddagram Municipality Mizanur Rahman around 9:00am.

Rajib Chakrabarty, Inspector (Investigation) of Chauddagram Police Station, said movement of vehicles on the highway halted immediately after the clash started around 9:00am.

Vehicles later started moving sporadically, and the situation became normal around 11:00am when both groups left the area, he said.
