Scuffles at AL’s peace rally

The ruling Awami League's peace rally at the South Gate of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque this afternoon saw incidents of scuffles.

A brief scuffle over sitting near the stage between two groups ensued before the rally began around 1:45pm, according to witnesses.

The opposing sides threw chairs at each other, they said. Senior leaders intervened to calm the situation.

Around 6:30pm another brawl took place between two groups of Kraniganj Awami League unit over removing banners.

Later, the matter was settled after senior leaders stepped in.
