SC bar assn election set for March 15-16

The two-day annual election of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) for its 14 executive posts, will be held on March 15 and 16.

The executive committee of the SCBA at a meeting today fixed the date for holding the election, SCBA Secretary Md Ruhul Quddus Kazal told The Daily Star.

He said more than 8,000 lawyers will be registered as voters in the country's prime bar association election, although the voter-list has not been finalised yet.

SCBA sources said the main contest in the election would take place between the panels of ruling Awami League-backed Bangabandhu Awami Ainjibi Parishad and BNP-backed Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikya Panel.

But, none of them finalised their candidates yet.
