The BNP alleged that a quarter with a vested interest has been spreading rumours regarding its Chairperson Khaleda Zia's health condition.

"The rumours have no basis. I think a quarter with vested interests is spreading rumours with an ill motive in a planned way," BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said at a press conference at the party's Nayapaltan headquarters today.

Fakhrul, however, did not make it clear who were the "quarter".

"You (journalists) can call me over madam's (Khaleda Zia) health condition. I will inform you," Fakhrul said.

When asked what is the current status of Khaleda Zia, Fakhrul said, "Her condition is very critical. Doctors are trying their best."
