Pre-polls violence: 2 killed, several injured in Meherpur

At least two persons were killed and over a dozen were injured in a clash over rivalry in the upcoming union parishad election at Gangni upazila in Meherpur district this morning.

The deceased were primarily identified as Jaharul Islam and his brother Shahadul, said Khandakar Shah Alam, inspector investigation of Gangni Police Station.

The clash took place at Dhola area between two member candidates at Kathuli union around 9:15am, leaving several injured.

They were rushed to upazila health complex where doctors declared the two persons dead, the inspector said.
