PM lied about Khaleda out of political vendetta: Fakhrul
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today alleged that the prime minister has lied about Khaleda Zia out of a political vendetta.
He made the remark while responding to PM's statements in an interview with Voice of America.
"Sheikh Hasina spoke to VoA today. She is completely lying," said Fakhrul at the "Sramik-Karmachari Convention" this afternoon.
"Khaleda Zia doesn't face any corruption cases. The amount that they say is Tk 2.33 crore has now increased to over Tk 8 crore... The money is with the bank. Khaleda Zia has been detained in false cases out of a political vendetta so that she cannot do politics," he said.
Blaming the government for Khaleda's critical health condition, the BNP secretary general said, "This government is unjustly imprisoning her in a false case and pushing her towards death without giving her a chance to have treatment."
Ailing BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has been undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital for over a month.
Urging the workers to get united, Fakhrul said, "This working-class people had fought for democracy in the past. I believe the workers will play a leading role this time also."
The convention was jointly organised by Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal and Sammilita Sramik Parishad on a road in front of Ideal School and College in Motijheel.
Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal leader ASM Abdur Rob and Nagorik Oikya President Mahmudur Rahman Manna also spoke at the programme, among others.
