BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today said people will resist if the government holds another "unilateral" election like the last one.

"Awami League does not believe in democracy," he said as a chief guest at a discussion in the capital.

Speaking at a discussion, Fakhrul said the Awami League wants an election without contest to again "take the trophy easily" like the 2014 and 2018 elections.

Fakhrul said that will not happen this time as people stand against such a move.

He accused the Awami League of not believing in democracy and snatching the rights of the citizens.

BNP Standing Committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy and Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi also spoke at the event organised by Bangladesh Student Forum and North Bengal Student Forum.
