Next polls will be a 'model election', hopes Raushan Ershad

Opposition Leader Raushan Ershad yesterday in parliament expressed hope that the upcoming national election will be a participatory, free, fair and impartial "model election".
She said, "No one wants the recurrence of election-related violence, conflict and loss of lives in the country that has continued for decades."
Raushan, the chief patron of Jatiya Party, said this in her concluding speech in the budget session.
She said that various countries, including the US, had called for the upcoming parliamentary election to be held in a free and fair manner.
The government also said that they are determined to hold free, fair and credible elections, she added.
"The main goal of the Election Commission will be to make all the parties election. How successful they are in this regard is now a matter to be seen," she also said.
