Mirza Abbas compares Tarique Rahman to Mandela, Khomeini
BNP standing committee member Mirza Abbas today said Tarique Rahman is leading BNP from abroad like that of political leaders Nelson Mandela and Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.
"Many people question how Tarique Rahman can manage the party from abroad. But this is the digital era. And didn't South Africa's Nelson Mandela and Iran's Khomeini lead their nation's politics from abroad? Tarique Rahman is running the party in that same manner. So, there should be any fear that we have no leader," he said.
Abbas, also former minister was addressing the divisional rally at Sonadighi intersection in Rajshahi city this afternoon.
He also said it was Awami League and Jamaat-e-Islami who first demanded for a caretaker government in this country.
When BNP was in power, AL joined hands with Jamaat and demanded for a caretaker government. Today's Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina back then had said the caretaker government will have to be implemented forever. But when they came to power, they just removed the caretaker government provision from the constitution to establish a dictatorship, said Abbas.
