Justice will be served, BCL implicated or not: Law Minister
Law Minister Anisul Huq today said whether it is Chhatra League or any other group, those who commit crimes will be brought to justice.
The minister made the remark while addressing reporters after the inaugural function of the 42nd Special Basic Training Course for Assistant and Equivalent Judges at the Judicial Administration Training Institute in Dhaka this afternoon.
The remarks came against the backdrop of the suspected mastermind behind the arson attack on Hindu houses and shops in Rangpur's Pirganj upazila, Saikat Mandal, was arrested. Saikat was the vice-president (now expelled) of BCL's philosophy department unit, under Carmichael College branch.
In that regard, the law minister further said, whichever party of group, perpetrators are perpetrators.
The violence in several districts, including in Rangpur's Pirganj, after the reported desecration of the Holy Quran in Cumilla, was to create unrest in the country, the minister said. The people of Bangladesh believe in communal harmony.
He further said that the accused have been arrested and investigation is underway. When they have to face the court of law after investigation, through a speedy trial tribunal, they will be given exemplary punishment.
Regarding a witness protection act, the matter is being taken up soon, he added.
