Govt not interfering in the judiciary

The government is not interfering in the judiciary at all rather judiciary is working independently, said Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader yesterday.

The minister said this at a press conference held at his residence in Dhaka.

He said the independence of the judiciary to BNP means that its verdict has to go in their (BNP's) favour.

This dual policy of BNP is now clear to the people, said Quader, also general secretary of Awami League.

Responding to a statement of BNP leaders that there is no freedom of media, Quader said the media is enjoying freedom and working without any interference.

"BNP is vilifying the government day and night. Even the government is being criticised in newspapers and talk shows every day," he said.

"If the media is not independent, then, why no action has been taken against any media or them?" Quader asked.
