Govt issues notification extending Khaleda’s jail sentence suspension

The government for the fifth time today (September 19, 2022) extended the suspension of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's jail sentence for another six months keeping the two previous conditions.
The home ministry issued a gazette notification to this effect.
The two conditions are Khaleda Zia will receive treatment staying at her residence and she cannot go out of the country.
Earlier on September 11, Khaleda Zia's family applied to the government to extend its order that suspended her jail sentences in two cases as per section 401 (1) of the Criminal Code of Procedure (CrPC).
Law Minister Anisul Huq also gave opinion in favour of extending the suspension of her jail sentence for another six months
Khaleda was freed from jail on March 25, 2020 after the government suspended her jail sentence for six months owing to the worldwide Covid-19 outbreak.
The former prime minister is now living in her Gulshan home.
