Fakhrul barred from going to BNP’s Nayapaltan office
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was prevented from going to the party's Nayapaltan office this morning.
"Sorry sir. We don't have the permission," a police officer told him as the BNP leader tried to enter the Nayapaltan area via Nightingale intersection around 10:45am.
Fakhrul then asked, "Why will I not be allowed to go to my party office?"
Before leaving the area, he talked to a group of journalists present there.
"Police are telling lies. They are now talking like political leaders. They [police] are the ones who put bombs inside the BNP office to foil the party's peaceful rally," he told the journalists.
He claimed that there were no explosives at the party office.
"When a secretary general of a political party is barred from going to the party office, one can understand the state of democracy in the country."
The BNP leader demanded immediate withdrawal of police personnel from the party office.
