Fair election seems impossible in current situation: GM Quader
Jatiya Party Chairman and Deputy Leader of Opposition GM Quader today said fair elections appear impossible in the current situation and the government should take initiatives in this regard.
"If the government wants, we will discuss it in the party forum and give a proposal on behalf of the Jatiya Party," Quader said while talking to reporters at the JP chairman's office in Dhaka's Banani.
In response to a question from journalists, the JP chief said the current government has lost the trust of people after remaining in power for a long time.
"We respect the court. We are following all the court orders. There is a deficiency in full independence of the judiciary due to some clauses of the constitution. Because of those provisions, the judiciary can be controlled to some extent."
Quader said not only the party leaders and workers but also common people of the country are happy with the lifting of the ban on the JP chairman regarding taking part in party activities.
The people of the country are expecting a third force apart from Awami League and BNP, he said.
"Jatiya Party is preparing to emerge in the elections as that third force. Jatiya Party is preparing for the elections to contest in three hundred seats," he added.
