DMP Commissioner Khandker Golam Faruq today requested BNP not to hold any programme on working days as it causes sufferings to city dwellers.

He made the call while addressing reporters at the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) headquarters this evening about the security measures centring the BNP processions scheduled for tomorrow.

"There are many open grounds. Arrange the programmes there without closing the roads," said the DMP boss urging the BNP policymakers.

BNP will march from Old Dhaka to Jatiya Press Club via its central party office tomorrow. The party says it informed the DMP commissioner about it on Tuesday.

Faruq said various political parties and professional groups have been holding programmes on working days, causing huge suffering to common people.

"We are requesting conscientious individuals, groups, political parties, and professional bodies not to hold any programme on working days and save the city dwellers from all sufferings," the DMP chief added.
