BNP's Dholaikhal rally begins
The BNP rally in the capital's Dholaikhal began around 2:30pm today.
The rally started with a recitation from the Holy Quran, reports our correspondent from the spot.
Hundreds of party leaders, supporters and activists had already arrived at the rally venue around 1:30pm, wearing colourful caps, carrying placards and posters, and chanting anti-government slogans.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, the chief guest, arrived at the rally venue around 4:30pm.
Standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan was present as a special guest at the venue from 3:00pm.
Earlier in the day, the party's activists gathered at the venue in separate processions from different wards and thanas of the capital.
The roads from Ray Shaheb Bazar intersection to WASA water pump in Dholaikhal was seen full of BNP leaders and activists.
The rally is being organised by the Dhaka South city unit of the BNP. A temporary stage has been set up on the road.
A large number of law enforcement personnel have been deployed in the Dholaikhal area.
