AL seems to have become the opposition: Khosru

The BNP today said it would not be possible to stop their ongoing movement of restoring democracy in the country by announcing counter programmes.
"If you [people] notice, it seems that they [Awami League] seem to have become the opposition party. It seems that the Awami League is not in the government, but has turned into an opposition party. They [AL] are announcing counter programmes whenever BNP announces a programme," said Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, standing committee member of the party.
Addressing a human chain programme in front of the National Press Club, the BNP leader said, "We want to say you [AL] cannot obstruct our peaceful programme. People took to the streets and proved that it would not be possible to stop the movement by filing false cases and opening fire.
"Announcing counter programmes, the ruling Awami League is proving that they have become bankrupt as a political party. The situation of the ruling party reached such an extent that they could not attract people by announcing a counter programme. They are trying to obstruct BNP's prgorammes."
He said people laughed at AL's counter programmes.
"It is because you have already been defeated politically. You have no right to announce a political programme. You were defeated as you took position against the people of the country."
Alleging that the ruling party men are siphoning off money from the country, the BNP leader said those who plundered public money would be tried on the soil of the country.
Jatiyatabadi Textile Engineers Association of Bangladesh organised the human chain programme protesting price hike of electricity, gas and daily essentials and demanding release of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and resignation of the government.
