AL hires 7 trains for PM’s Rajshahi rally
Awami League has hired at least seven trains for transporting people to Rajshahi for attending Prime Minister and AL president Sheikh Hasina's divisional rally tomorrow.
Bangladesh Railway rented out the seven trains with the capacity of 10,306 passengers at Tk 12,90,007, Ashim Kumar Talukhder, west zonal railway general manager, told The Daily Star.
"Railway headquarters have decided to rent out the trains upon applications from the party," he said.
Two trains were allocated for Chapainawabganj district -- one from Chapainawabganj station and another from Rohonpur station.
Other trains will start from Panchbibi station of Joypurhat, Santahar of Bogura, Natore, Sirajganj, and Arani station of Rajshahi, reports our Rajshahi staff correspondent.
The trains were rented out on condition that the payment would be done in advance, railway officials said.
The train will leave the stations for Rajshahi between 9:00am and 10:00am tomorrow and will return after the rally, railway officials said.
Out of the seven trains, the party has already paid for the train from Sirajganj while it is supposed to pay the rest by today, they said.
Hasina is scheduled to visit Rajshahi tomorrow and address the divisional rally at the Madrassa Maidan (Now Haji Muhammad Mohsin Government High School ground).
