AL-BNP clash in Sirajganj leaves 10 injured, vehicles vandalised

At least 10 people were injured and five to six vehicles were vandalised in a clash between Awami League and BNP in Sirajganj today.
The incident happened at the Paikpara area of Kalia Horipur union in Sirajganj Sadar upazila this afternoon when AL men gathered to hold a peace rally and BNP men were taking preparations for their programme in the area, reports our Pabna correspondent quoting Sirajganj Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Humayun Kabir.
AL and BNP blamed each other for the incident.
Local AL leader and Kalia Haripur Union Parishad Chairman Abdus Sobur Khan said a group of BNP men attacked the AL men as they were holding the peace rally in the area.
Secretary of Sirajganj district unit BNP Saidur Rahman Bachchu, however, told local journalists that this was a planned incident by local AL to foil BNP's programme.
Several motorbikes were vandalised in the area during the clash. The situation is tense following the incident and police have been deployed in the area, said the OC.
