Kushtia police today arrested eight BNP leaders and activists from the district's Mirpur upazila.

The arrestees were identified as Afzal Hossain, joint general secretary of Mirpur upazila BNP unit, Mostafizur Rahman, joint convener of Mirzapur upazila Jubo Dal, Rasel Ahmed, joint convener of Kushtia Municipality Swechchhasebak Dal, Shahidul Islam of Chhatra Dal, Akash Hossain of Swechchhasebak Dal, and Imran Hossain, Jubair Hossain and Shahin Ahmed of Jubo Dal.

Rashedul Alam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Mirpur Police Station, told our Kushtia correspondent that there is a sabotage case against all the arrestees.

Upazila BNP leaders and activists tried to gather in front of a football field after placing flower wreaths at the Martyrs Memorial in Mirpur upazila when police arrested them, said Kushtia municipality BNP President Abdur Rashid.
