15 injured in clash between supporters of AL, rebel candidates in Dhamrai

At least 15 people were injured in a clash between supporters of Awami League (AL) nominated UP chairman candidate and rebel candidate in Dhaka's Dhamrai upazila today.
The incident took place at Shuyapur Bazar area around 11:45am, reports our Savar correspondent.
Abdul Halim, son of Kafil Uddin -- AL nominated chairman candidate -- alleged that Hafizur Rahman Sohrab, current chairman and rebel candidate of Shuyapur union, and his supporters attacked them with sharp weapons while they were campaigning and seeking votes in Shuyapur Bazar area.
Locals later took the injured to Dhamrai Upazila Health Complex for treatment, he added.
Nirmal Kumar Das, officer-in-charge (Operation) of Dhamrai Police Station, said that police rushed to the scene after receiving information and are investigating the matter. However, no written complaint has been received yet.
"After investigating the matter, legal action will be taken," the OC said.
