Maulana Fatehpuri passes away

Maulana Muhammad Nuruddin Fatehpuri, an expert in working with stone inscription, died at his home in Gazipur yesterday.
He was 75.
The eminent scholar left behind his wife, two sons, and two daughters. He died of old-age complications.
He was well known for deciphering Arabic, Farsi and Urdu inscriptions.
He was born at Fatehpur village in Gazipur's Kaliganj upazila in 1948.
After finishing his primary education, he went to Karachi and Lahore in 1966 and 1967 for higher education in Elme Kerat and Hadith.
He developed his interest in stone inscription in the 1990s. He was also the Khatib of Boro Bhat Jame Masjid, a Mughal era structure, from 1960 to 2019.
He was an editor of a book related to Dhaka's heritage structures, which is yet to be published.
