Zila Parishad chairmen and members cannot hold posts after the five-year tenure on any excuse.
A bill in this connection -- titled "Zila Parishad (Amendment) Act 2022" -- was placed in parliament yesterday to make the new system in to effect.
Local Government Minister Tazul Islam placed the bill, which was then sent to the parliamentary standing committee on the respective ministry for scrutiny.
The parliamentary watchdog was asked to submit its report within 7 days.
The proposed law said the Zila Parishad representatives must leave their posts on the expiry of their tenure.
The government would appoint administrator/s to run the local body until the formation of the next council (parishad).
The LGRD minister yesterday also placed another Bill in parliament titled "The Local Government (Pourosova) (Amendment) Bill, 2022" to strictly follow the system of holding local government polls every five years.
After passing of the bill, it will stop pouroshova chairmen from staying in office for more than 5 years.
