Woman held over killing of husband
Police have arrested a woman on charge of killing her husband in Dhaka's Khilgaon area yesterday morning.
The deceased is Abdur Rahman (40), employee of a shop selling poultry in the area.
Farukul Alam, officer-in-charge of Khilgaon Police Station, said the couple used to live with their three children at a flat in East Goran area.
As they locked in an altercation in the morning, Rahman started beating his wife Nazma Akter (35) with a badminton racquet. The beating was so severe that the upper part of the racquet broke during the assault.
At one point, Nazma snatched the broken racquet from Rahman and stabbed him in the chest with it -- leaving him critically injured, the OC quoted her as saying.
Rahman was later taken to a hospital where doctors declared him dead.
On information, police rushed to the hospital and sent the body to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy yesterday afternoon.
Police detained Nazma from the house and said filing of a case is underway.
